Acupuncture is an ancient technique that originated from China over 3000 years ago and is the fastest growing method of health care in America today. Acupuncture works to restore and balance the body's vital energy (qi or chi) through the use of needles at specific points. In a healthy person the energy flows smoothly. However, if the energy is out of balance or blocked, illness or disease results.
Acupuncture consists of the gentle insertion and stimulation of sterile, disposable, small, hair-width needles placed at precise strategic points on the body. Once the needles are inserted, a person may experience a sensation of heaviness, itching, or simply a sense of muscle relief. Every person’s experience differs. While many acupuncture patients are initially wary about their first treatment, they soon discover that the experience invokes a deep sense of relaxation/well-being or gives a person a boost of energy. Acupuncture has been proven to stimulate and release opiate-like hormones that induce this state of relaxation, balance, and healing.
Just to name a few conditions, according to the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture, acupuncture may be considered as a complementary therapy for these conditions:
Five-Element-Acupuncture is distinctive from all other types of acupuncture. This system treats the “Causative Factor” or the root imbalance of the disease. As the core problem is treated, all signs and symptoms of disease disappear.
The Chinese, for thousands of years, have recognized that the Five Elements - Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water - exist in every person and everything, and are essential for life. Classical Five-Element acupuncture asserts that every human being is born with, or develops early in life, an imbalance in the natural functioning of these Five Elements. The underlying cause of illness is this imbalance.
In addition, this system recognizes that the health of each unique individual's body, mind, and spirit must be taken into account to fully understand and treat the cause of illness. Consequently, each treatment is never the same. Click here for more information about the Five-Element Acupuncture.
